7. Cookies
A cookie is a data file stored by a user’s device when browsing the Site in order to record information relating to them (e.g. login information, browsing preferences, etc.). This file is automatically sent back on the user’s subsequent visits to the Site.
Within the framework of the Site, GALILEO uses the following cookies:
- Technical cookies: these cookies are necessary for the proper functioning of the Site and cannot be disabled by GALILEO’s systems. Users can configure their browser to block or be informed of the existence of these cookies, but this may affect the proper functioning of the Site. These cookies do not store personal information relating to Site users.
- Functional cookies: these cookies improve and personalise the Site’s features. If the user does not accept these cookies, part or all of the Site may not function correctly.
- Third-party application cookies: these cookies are placed on domains other than that of the Site and allow a third-party site session (Facebook, LinkedIn, social networks, intranet, etc.) to be linked to the current Site session. If the Site user does not accept these cookies, they will be faced with re-identification pages each time they access the third-party site.
- Session cookies: these are temporary cookies that expire when the user leaves the Site. If the Site user does not accept these cookies, choices made by the user on the various pages will not be remembered when navigating between pages of the Site.
- Marketing tracking: these cookies allow the Site’s audience to be measured and tailored advertisements to be provided. If the Site user does not accept these cookies, the advertising displayed on the Site will not be tailored to the user’s browsing habits and GALILEO will not be able to optimise tracking of navigation on the Site.
The retention period for information recorded by cookies on the Site user’s device may not exceed thirteen (13) months (see details in the cookie table referenced on the Site).
Consent given by the Site user regarding the use of cookies at the time of their first visit to the site is valid for a period of thirteen (13) months. However, Site users may change their choices at any time via the “cookie settings” link accessible at the bottom of the page, or by refusing to allow cookies to be recorded by configuring their browser accordingly.
